He graduated from California State University, San Bernardino in 1970 and went on to receive his Juris Doctorate from University of LaVerne College of Law in 1978. During his legal studies, he served as Editor-in-Chief, and published The Journal of Juvenile Law, which has become the University of La Verne Law Review.
